If you were to bring this ridiculousness up to a younger JW, they would laugh or immediately call your information suspect.

April 2014 WT is up, more attacks on career and unbelieving family!
by EndofMysteries inhere are some highlights from the magazine.
the first article, "imitate the faith of moses", teaches how moses didn't remain in pharohs court, they then skillfully spin getting a decent paying job and career as equaling "enjoyment of sin", and how those who have "enjoyment of sin" will die at armageddon with everyone else who enjoys their job.
here are some quotes from the article.... "when tempted to engage in sinful conduct, ask, what future do i want for myself?....

I personally know many younger JWs who are either saving for retirement, or preparing to supplement their parents' incomes because they didn't save for their own. This WILL catch up with the WTS soon. Now it's finally possible to have a conversation with JWs about retirement funds.
Funny though, because they are willing to disobey the 'direction' about savings, they blame the older generation personally for not saving. Still no blame is out on the WTS.

Need thought provoking question to In Gods Love Ch 16--warning: kinda long!
by DS211 ini have home bible stufy tomorrow and need help asking some questions to get the elders mind going, as well as my wife.
oppose the devil and his crafty acts oppose the devil, and he will flee.
james 4:7. if you have been serving jehovah for decades, you have likely heard numerous baptism talks at our assem- blies and conventions.

Wow... After not reading that crap for so long, it's tough to stomach all of the cult speak.
I don't know how you do it, hopefully it is worth it with your wife.
PS I'm not sure of the point of this thread... though punk have you some nice questions to get the wheels turning

Is this really a place for Jehovah's Witnesses/Friends
by jeff spreng ini ask this because i was considering rejoining and the stories i have read only remind me of what was done to me.
is there any clean place to go where good people and fellowship can be had.
it sounds like maybe the people here should get together and start there own thing, like the reorganized latter day saints.

You, sir are prime to join another cult. If you don't have any friends then you're not likely charismatic enough to start your own. Maybe instead of looking for cults to join, maybe just try and be more open to new relationships? Try meetup.com They have groups in every area for various interests. Not a dating site in case you're wondering.
Also, maybe don't advertise the fact that you have no friends... Can turn people off. good chance you're clingy.

WHY MANY GET STUCK IN!
by ADJUSTMENTS infrom my experience as a jw i noticed that myself, and many young ones do not have a choice in the decision of becoming a jw or not.
from infancy you are indoctrinated, so by the time you become a teenager and just begining to reason on right and wrong and what you will do with your life it has already been decided.
so at this moment in your late teens you come to a cross roads... if you decide not to be a jw you will be mentally and emotionally beaten, threatened and oustracized bordering on abuse.
-

Great point. It really isn't a choice at all. Yet when one decides to point it out, the JW will immediately point out that it was YOUR choice to get baptized, and YOUR choice to leave. Always blame the person, not the cult.

Are you materialistic?

My wife and I have moved far from our families to make a very good living. Now we have nice things and a real financial plan and future.
So yes, by JW standards we are. By REAL standards, we do not hold ourselves to a certain financial standard or have a lifestyle we thing we need to keep up. We would be happy with much less, but are making decisions that are not counting on the world ending within 5 years.

Status quo? Or tell ttatt?
by ILoveTTATT insupposing i can pull off moving to the other city without the elders successfully finding me and forcing me to go to a jc or something.... should i ever tell my mom ttatt?
or should i let sleeping dogs lie?
it is extremely unlikely that dad will tell her ttatt... he prefers, 99% of the time, to not say anything rather than fight.
-
Captain Obvious
Maybe just be incredibly glad that your dad knows TTATT? She's his problem, not yours. He will likely run defense for you if she ever decides to try and shun you.
As far as moving goes, dude... Definitely. Maybe even make a short temporary move, have your cards sent there, then take off to where you really want to be? You don't want the elders in your new home to even know who you are.
Shoot me a PM with where you plan to go, if it's near where I am perhaps I can be of assistance.

Just become a window washer..............ya that.
by ctrwtf ini"m normally the kind of guy that likes to count his blessings.
i've got two great kids.
and a super wife who loves me despite myself.
-
Captain Obvious
Maybe use your ample income to save for university for your kids? Then you definitely wont be putting them in the same position as you were. Also, maybe get really involved in something in your community?
